Augmented with a Day/Date function and Moon Phase, the latest Inspiration exudes elegance and eclectic style. The Inspiration collection was launched last year to mark the 70th anniversary of the Michel Herbelin French Watchmaking Studio.
Classic inspiration with a modern touch
Like the rest of the Inspiration collection, this Michel Herbelin piece is inspired by vintage watch designs from 1947-1950. The rounded contours of the 38mm polished steel case are accented with a ribbed, ball-shaped crown set with a blue cabochon. The curved dial sits neatly under domed sapphire glass. This vintage styled case highlights the sleek, contemporary aesthetic of the dial, whose sparse architecture ensures perfect readability.
Baton hour markers alternate with Arabic numerals in a balanced arrangement on the simply laid out minute track, set off by the soberness of the hour and minute hands with their luminescent coating. At 3 and 9 o’clock, date and day counters with needle displays add further elements to the orchestration. But that’s not all. . . An aperture at 6 o’clock draws the gaze to a Moon Phase indicator. Artfully decorated with stars on a midnight blue background, it shows the precise positioning of the moon in real time.
Driven by a Swiss-made quartz movement (Ronda), the Inspiration Day/Date combines this mark of quality and reliability with the legacy of French watchmaking know-how. Like all the brand’s timepieces, this watch was conceived, designed, assembled, regulated and quality checked at the Michel Herbelin studios that have stood in the Jura mountains of the Franche-Comté region since 1947.
Available with a choice of a leather strap or a steel Milanese chain link bracelet, this new timepiece by Michel Herbelin flits between tradition and a sleek contemporary aesthetic. On sale at a very affordable price considering the care taken over its detailing, it will tastefully complement the chic style of its owner.
About Michel Herblin
In the last century, Michel Herbelin founded his eponymous brand as an independent family-owned traditional French watchmaking company in Charquemont, in the region of Haut-Doubs near the Swiss border. Set in the heart of the manufacturing region of Fine Watchmaking – close to its main suppliers to ensure absolute control over production – the company has its own design studio within the workshops where watches are assembled. Beautifully made in a price range from £300 to £2,000, Michel Herbelin watches are exclusively equipped with Swiss movements. In 2017, annual production reached 85,000 watches, with distribution through 3,000 points of sale across 50 countries. Heir to a watchmaking tradition stretching back over 70 years, this Jura brand is spurred on by the passion of a family that has seen three generations take up the craft since 1947. Today, Pierre-Michel Herbelin is at the helm as CEO, working alongside two of the founder’s grandchildren in the design and marketing departments – all of them driving forward the venture begun by their forefathers.
