Covid Update 30th December 2020

The secretary of State for Health, Matt Hancock, announced changes to the Tier system this afternoon. Salisbury will be moving from Tier 2 to Tier 3 from midnight. Tier 3 restrictions do allow shops to remain open, however, it is with much regret that we have decided to temporarily close our doors again after the close of business tomorrow at 3 PM.

Salisbury is in close proximity to current Tier 3 and 4 areas and after updates that come into force tomorrow, all areas to the east and south will be in Tier 4. Unfortunately, it is apparent that many people are now visiting Salisbury from Tier 4 areas to shop and we feel that this represents an unacceptable risk. We have decided we have no choice but to close in order to protect our customers and staff from Coronavirus, especially in view of the new more highly transmissible variant that is sweeping the country.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience, particularly to our customers who may be expecting us to be open according to Tier 3 restrictions, but we beg your understanding for our decision. Although our doors will be closed we will of course still be able to respond to emails and social media messages.

We would like to thank all of our customers and members of the public for their patience and understanding over the course of the pandemic. 2020 had been a difficult year for everyone and we hope that the new tighter restrictions will help protect our NHS  and allow the forthcoming vaccination programme to be rolled out as smoothly as possible. Tomorrow evening we will certainly be raising a glass, not only to toast the New Year, but to say a big thank you to our NHS and all public services, as well as our customers and staff.
