FAQs
Is the scrap metal price all I will be offered?
No, not necessarily, we may offer much more! If an item has value other than its intrinsic metal value, we may be able to make you a much better offer.
Will you be able to make an offer while I wait?
In many cases we are able to make you an offer in just a few minutes. But if you have an item which is likely to be worth more than it’s scrap value it would be of benefit to you to leave the item with us for a short time so that we can research and offer you the best possible price.
Some online gold dealers have questionable reputations, how can I be sure that you will make me a fair offer?
We’ve been buying and selling gold and jewellery in Salisbury since 1905 and have a good reputation for quality of service. We are also members of the National Association of Goldsmiths.
A doorstep dealer offered me a high price per gram but I’m suspicious as I’m sure my mother’s wedding ring weighed more than 8g; what should I do?
Take your items to a reputable jeweller where scales are calibrated and inspected on a regular basis. Look for a member of the National Association of Goldsmiths. They should have the NAG logo on their website and on their premises. There is never any harm in getting more than one offer.
How do some television and Internet gold buyers manage to advertise such high prices?
High headline prices may be advertised as loss leaders in the same way as bank and building societies often advertise accounts with unsustainable rates. Often, behind these rates there are many disclaimers and caveats, and if you do manage to secure a good offer per gram, can you be sure how much gold you actually sent them anyway? It is also the case that only scrap values are offered which do not take into account any intrinsic or "antique" value that an item may have. It is always worth asking a reputable high street jeweller for an offer before you consider the insecurity of an online or postal service. After all, you are under no obligation to accept our offer, so what have you got to lose?
