Probate

Purpose

A valuation for probate is often used by executors of a will in order to ascertain the hypothetical disposal value of an item. As with an insurance valuation care is taken to fully examine and document the article, although typically the schedule will contain less descriptive detail. The resultant valuation of an item will usually be lower than an insurance valuation as the client is seeking a reasonable estimate of the items disposal value on the open market.  This type of valuation does not constitute an offer to purchase the goods.

Charges

We make a standing charge for a valuation schedule (which may contain more than item) of £20.  An additional charge of 2% of the total valuation, up to £10000 is added.

Please note:
For valuation schedules totalling more than £10,000 we have a sliding scale of charges, please contact us for more details.  We may make a reduction in fees if the item has been valued by us with in the last ten years.  In the case of rare or exceptional articles, we reserve the right to pass on, with client’s prior agreement, reasonable charges born by us in respect resulting from travel expenses or outsourced research where specialist equipment is required such as x-rays, etc, may be required.
